Tamar Lomidze
Tamar Lomidze (born 27.06.1969) is painter, poet, teacher and philologist from Tbilisi, Georgia. She graduated from Tbilisi State University in Georgian language and literature, art critics and painting. Tamar has participated in scholarships and research-projects at University of Oslo related to Norwegian literature and language, and has received the scholarship of Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. Tamar has been teaching in Georgian language and culture at the Ecole Francaise du Caucase. She has also been doing language courses for IDPs at the Norwegian Refugee Council in Tbilisi. In 2012 Tamar established Cultural Travel – Georgia together with Svend Waage arranging cultural tours throughout Georgia for both foreign and Georgian guests.
Tamar has participated in numerous exhibitions and has had personal exhibitions/been main exhibitor at exhibitions in Georgia as well as in Norway. Her works are in private collections in countries such as Norway, Sweden, Spain, US and UK. Tamar has released four collections of poems and arranged numerous literary evenings. She has received awards for her poetry, for example the special price in Shotaoba which is the annual poetry competition in the name of Shota Rustaveli and the largest poetry-competition in Georgia. Tamar is member of the Georgian Artist's Union, the Georgian Writer's Union and the Associations for poets Always a new Lyre.
